To install the Yoshimura R77 Dual Race Exhaust System on your Suzuki Hayabusa 2022, follow the steps outlined in the provided installation guide. Here is a summary of the installation process:
1. Removal:
- Start by removing the stock muffler heat shield on the right side.
- Loosen the stock exhaust clamp.
- Support the stock muffler assembly securely and remove the muffler mount bolt to carefully remove the stock muffler assembly.
- Note: The stock exhaust gasket will not be used. Repeat these steps for the opposite side.
2. Installation:
- Install the (No. 1) exhaust clamp to the (No. 6) left tailpipe and the (No. 2) exhaust clamp to the (No. 7) right tailpipe. Do not torque them at this time.
- Install the (No. 9) muffler clamp heat shields to the (No. 5) muffler clamps and slide them onto both mufflers.
- Starting on the right side, install the tailpipe to the stock header outlet and hand tighten the exhaust clamp.
- Install the muffler onto the tailpipe and slide the muffler clamp (No. 5) along the muffler until it aligns with the front side of the stock muffler mounting point. Secure it using the stock hardware. Do not torque it at this time.
- Repeat these steps for the opposite side.
- Check for proper alignment of the muffler by standing at the back of the motorcycle. Adjust if necessary.
- Once desired alignment is achieved, torque both muffler clamps and exhaust clamps to factory specifications.
- Install the (No. 8) small exhaust springs (No. 8) between the muffler and tailpipe using the supplied spring puller tool.
- Install the left and right heat shields (No. 10) using the provided heat shield screws (No. 12).
- Before starting the vehicle, check for proper clearance between the new exhaust system and rear suspension components. If any issues are found, carefully follow the installation steps again. If problems persist, contact Yoshimura Tech Department for assistance.
- It is recommended to wipe down the muffler and tailpipe with rubbing alcohol to remove oil and fingerprints, which helps prevent tarnishing of the finish after the exhaust is heated up.
- Note: After starting the motorcycle, it is normal for the new exhaust system and muffler to emit smoke until oil residue burns off.
