To remove the stock cooler and backplate from your graphics card, follow these steps:
1. Unscrew all the highlighted screws, including the backplate screws and stock cooler screws. Make sure to unplug the LED and fan cables before removing the stock cooler.
2. Clean off the original thermal compound using isopropanol alcohol. This will ensure a clean surface for applying the new thermal paste.
3. Remove the protective film from the thermal pads and place them in the correct positions on the PCB (graphics card). These thermal pads help with heat transfer.
4. Apply the Phanteks Thermal Compound to the center of the GPU chip. This will provide optimal thermal conductivity between the GPU chip and the water block.
5. Secure the support bracket to the GPU block first. Then carefully position the water block onto the graphics card, aligning the mounting holes on the PCB with the holes on the water block.
6. Use 4 M2.5x5mm screws and washers to secure the water block to the PCB. Also, secure the support bracket with the original cooler xxxx .
7. Remove the protective film from both sides of the thermal pads and place them in the correct positions on the backplate. These thermal pads help with heat dissipation.
8. Carefully position the backplate onto the graphics card, aligning the mounting holes on the PCB with the holes on the backplate.
9. Secure the backplate to the PCB using 8x M2.5x8mm and 2x M2.5x6mm flush screws.
10. Connect the D-RGB cable from the PHANTEKS PH-GB4090AS-BK01 Glacier G40 Asus GPU Block to the D-RGB strip in the water block. This will allow you to control the RGB lighting.
11. Finally, install the GPU into your system and connect the water loop and stop fittings. Before providing power to any system components, always perform a leak test to ensure there are no leaks in the water cooling system.
Please note that this is a general overview of the installation process. For more detailed instructions and illustrations, refer to the installation guide provided with the PHANTEKS PH-GB4090AS-BK01 Glacier G40 Asus GPU Block.
