Cleaning the Hamilton Beach HDC311 coffee maker is an important maintenance task to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the appliance. Here is the recommended cleaning procedure:
1. Unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool before cleaning.
2. Hand wash all removable parts, such as the removable single-serve pack holder and funnel, in hot, soapy water. Rinse and dry them thoroughly. Alternatively, you can wash these parts in the top rack of a dishwasher, but do not use the "SANI" setting as it may damage the product.
3. Wipe the outside of the coffee maker with a soft damp cloth.
Routine Cleaning:
- It is recommended to clean the coffee maker at least once a month, or once a week if you live in an area with hard water.
Deep Cleaning:
- To remove mineral deposits, pour 1 1/2 cups (355 ml) of plain white vinegar into the reservoir.
- Place a 14-oz. (414-ml) or larger cup or travel mug underneath to catch the vinegar.
- Press the BREW NOW button once, and after 30 seconds, press it again to stop the brewing. Allow the vinegar to clean for 30 minutes.
- Press the BREW NOW button again and let it finish the brew cycle.
- Empty the cup and rinse it.
- Run 2 to 3 cycles of cold tap water to rinse the coffee maker thoroughly.
Clogged Needle:
- If the piercing needle becomes clogged, remove the gray removable needle holder in the lid by turning the arrow from the locked icon to the unlocked icon.
- Bend a small paper clip and insert the tip through the hole of the piercing needle and up into the shaft to remove any grounds.
- To replace the gray removable needle holder, insert the tab between the lock icon and unlock icon and turn it to the right to lock.
It is important to follow these cleaning instructions to maintain the performance and hygiene of your Hamilton Beach HDC311 coffee maker.
