To clean the Hamilton Beach 49948 Single-Serve Coffee Maker, follow these steps:
1. Unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool.
2. Hand-wash all removable parts, such as the water reservoir, single-serve pack holder, and brew basket, in hot, soapy water. Rinse and dry them thoroughly. Alternatively, you can wash these parts in the top rack of a dishwasher, but avoid using the "SANI" setting as it may damage the product.
3. Wipe the outside of the coffee maker with a soft damp cloth.
4. For routine cleaning, fill the water reservoir with 14 oz. (414 ml) of plain white vinegar.
5. Place a 14-oz. (414-ml) or larger cup or travel mug underneath the coffee maker to catch the vinegar.
6. Select the travel mug size and press the BREW REG or BREW BOLD button once. The vinegar will start dispensing. Press the brew button again to stop brewing and allow the vinegar to clean. Let the vinegar sit in the coffee maker for 30 minutes.
7. After 30 minutes, press the brew button again and allow the coffee maker to complete the brew cycle.
8. Empty the cup and rinse it thoroughly.
9. Run 2 to 3 cycles of cold tap water through the coffee maker to rinse out any remaining vinegar.
10. Once the cleaning process is complete, unplug the coffee maker.
For a clogged needle, follow these steps:
1. Unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool.
2. Remove the gray removable needle holder in the lid by turning the arrow from the locked icon to the unlocked icon.
3. Bend a small paper clip and insert the tip through the hole of the piercing needle and up into the shaft to ensure any grounds have been removed.
4. To replace the gray removable needle holder, insert the tab between the lock icon and unlock icon and turn it to the right to lock it back into place.
Regular cleaning and maintenance will help keep your Hamilton Beach 49948 Single-Serve Coffee Maker in optimal condition and ensure the best coffee taste.
