To update the firmware on your Leica M11 Digital Rangefinder Camera, follow these steps:
1. Preparation:
- Fully charge and insert the rechargeable battery.
- Remove any stored firmware files on the memory card.
- It is recommended to save any images on the memory card and reformat it before the update (note that formatting will result in the loss of all data on the card).
- Back up any files saved to the internal memory as a precaution.
- Download the latest firmware version from the Leica website.
- Save the firmware file to the main directory of the memory card (not in a sub-directory).
- Insert the memory card into the camera.
- Switch the camera on.
2. Updating the Camera Firmware:
- Select "Camera Information" in the main menu.
- Select "Camera firmware version".
- Select "Firmware update".
- A prompt with information about the camera will be displayed.
- Check the version information.
- Select "Yes".
- A prompt asking if you want to save profiles on the SD card will appear. Select "Yes" or "No" as desired.
- The update will start automatically.
- The lower-status LED will flash during the update process.
- Once the update is completed successfully, a relevant message will appear, and the camera will restart.
Note: After the restart, you will need to set up the date & time and preferred language again. Relevant prompts will appear on the screen.
Please ensure that you do not switch off the camera, remove the memory card, remove the rechargeable battery, or remove the lens during the firmware update process, as it may cause serious and irreparable damage to your equipment.
