To clean the Mainstays 511400 5-Cup Coffee Maker, follow these steps:
1. Disconnect the plug from the wall outlet and allow all parts of the appliance to cool down completely.
2. Clean the appliance and warming plate with a clean, slightly damp cloth.
3. Clean the carafe and filter basket in hot, soapy water. Both the carafe and filter basket are dishwasher safe.
4. To remove stains from the carafe, fill it with hot water and add baking soda or a mild cleaning agent. For stubborn stains, leave it to soak overnight.
5. Clean all parts of the appliance after each use.
6. To descale the coffee maker, fill the water tank with a mixture of vinegar and water (half vinegar and half water) or use a descaling product. Place the carafe on the warming plate, place the I/0 button in the I position, and run the appliance. Once finished, switch the appliance off and discard the vinegar and water mixture. Refill the water tank with water and run the appliance again without ground coffee.
7. It is recommended to deep clean the appliance every 60 cycles or more frequently if the water hardness level in your area is high.
Note: Do not immerse the power cord with plug and appliance into water or any other liquid. Do not use abrasive cleaners, steel wool, or scouring pads. Dry all parts thoroughly after cleaning before using or storing the appliance. Ensure that no water enters the appliance housing.
