To download and install Avid Media Composer video editing software, follow these steps:
1. Purchasing the software:
- You can buy Media Composer from the Avid web store or through an Avid reseller.
- To buy from the Avid web store, go to shop.avid.com, choose the product and subscription model, add it to your cart, and follow the onscreen directions. After completing your order, you will receive an order confirmation email with download links.
- To buy from an Avid reseller, purchase a Media Composer registration card or code and access the website indicated on the card (www.avid.com/register). Enter your Registration Code and follow the onscreen prompts to download Media Composer.
2. Before installing:
- Read through the installation procedures in the provided guide to familiarize yourself with the process.
- Close any unnecessary windows or programs for optimal performance.
- Restart your computer to complete the installation process.
- Check the ReadMe on the Knowledge Page to ensure your system is properly configured for the software.
3. Installing Media Composer:
- Log in as an OS user with administrative privileges.
- Launch the installer.
- Follow the onscreen instructions specific to your operating system (Windows or Macintosh).
- For Windows, double-click "Install Media Composer.exe" and follow the instructions.
- For Macintosh, double-click the .dmg file, then double-click "Install Media Composer" and follow the instructions.
4. Starting Media Composer:
- After installation, open Media Composer for the first time.
- The Welcome window will prompt you to activate your software.
- Use Avid Link to activate your software. Refer to the Avid Link User's Guide for detailed instructions on activation and deactivation.
5. Additional options and features:
- Through Avid Link, you can activate additional options and features for Media Composer.
- Visit the Avid web store and click on "Software Options for Video Editing" to purchase these additional products.
6. Running the 30-Day Trial:
- Before purchasing, you can test Media Composer and its features for a 30-day trial period.
- Start Media Composer, select "I want to run a fully-featured, trial version of Media Composer for 30 days" in the Welcome window, and click Continue.
- After the trial period, you can choose to purchase a full editing license from the Avid web store.
7. :
- Log in and initially start the application as a user with administrative privileges.
- If working in a shared storage environment, mount your workspaces.
- Follow the provided uninstallation instructions specific to your operating system (Windows or Macintosh) to remove Media Composer from your computer.
