Cleaning the Hamilton Beach 49930 FlexBrew Trio 2-Way Coffee Maker is important for maintaining its performance and ensuring the quality of your coffee. Here are the cleaning instructions as provided in the operation manual:
Routine Cleaning:
1. All coffee makers should be cleaned at least once a month (once a week for areas with hard water).
2. Fill the Removable Water Reservoir with 1/2 cup (118 mL) of white vinegar. Then, fill with cold water to the 24 oz. (710 mL) mark.
3. Lift up the Espresso Lid to expel any used espresso pod. Empty the Used Pod Container and place it back into the Base. Close the Espresso Lid.
4. Place a 5 oz. (148 mL) or larger cup on the Espresso side Cup Rest.
5. Plug the coffee maker into an outlet.
6. Press the Power Switch to the ON (I) position. Never lift the Espresso Lid or FlexBrew Lid during brewing cycles.
7. Brew one Large Espresso cycle (5 oz./148 mL) brew cycle with no espresso pod in place.
8. Ensure the Used Pod Container is in place, then lift the Espresso Lid. Hot water will be expelled from the espresso brewing chamber into the Used Pod Container. Empty the water from the Used Pod Container.
9. Lift the FlexBrew Lid and dispose of any used pods or ground coffee. Close the FlexBrew Lid.
10. Place a 16 oz. (473 mL) cup on the FlexBrew side Cup Rest.
11. Brew one 14 oz. (414 mL) () cycle without a pod or grounds.
12. Empty any remaining liquid from the Removable Water Reservoir. Fill it with cold water up to the 24 oz. (710 mL) mark.
13. Repeat steps 2-10. Empty any remaining liquid from the Removable Water Reservoir. Your coffee maker is now clean.
General Cleaning:
1. Unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool.
2. Hand wash all removable parts in hot, soapy water. Rinse and dry or wash them in the top rack only of a dishwasher. DO NOT use the "SANI" setting when washing in the dishwasher, as the high temperatures could damage the product.
3. Wipe the outside of the coffee maker with a soft damp cloth.
Clogged Needle:
1. Unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool.
2. Remove the Gray Removable Needle Holder from the Lid by turning it counterclockwise from the lock icon ( ) to the unlock icon ( ).
3. Bend a small paper clip and insert the tip through the hole of the Piercing Needle and up into the shaft of the Piercing Needle to ensure any grounds have been removed.
4. To replace the Gray Removable Needle Holder, insert the tab between the lock icon ( ) and unlock icon ( ) and turn it clockwise to lock.
