To install the Dynojet Power Commander 6 on your Yamaha R1-R1M 2020-2021, please follow the steps outlined in the installation guide provided with the product. Here is a step-by-step guide:
1. Start by removing the seat and fuel tank of your motorcycle.
2. Remove the left-hand side cover and the cover over the ECU.
3. Remove the stock airbox.
4. Unplug the stock wiring harness from the injectors.
5. Lay the Power Commander 6 in the tail section and route it down the left side of the frame towards the throttle bodies. Make sure to connect it to the lower set of injectors.
6. Plug the Power Commander 6 in-line with the stock injectors and wiring harness. The orange-colored wires go to cylinder #1, yellow-colored wires go to cylinder #2, green-colored wires go to cylinder #3, and blue-colored wires go to cylinder #4.
7. Connect the ground wire from the Power Commander 6 to the common ground wire at the back of the engine.
8. Plug the Power Commander 6 in-line with the stock gear position sensor and wiring harness. This connection is located on the left side of the engine above the sprocket cover.
9. Unplug the small connector from the ECU to gain access to the harness. Pull the sheathing back.
10. Use the supplied Posi-tap to attach the Power Commander 6 grey wire to the stock white wire of the ECU. Locate pin #12 on the back of the connector.
11. Plug the connector back into the ECU.
12. Unplug the crank position sensor connector. This connection is located near the gear shift linkage and is inside a rubber boot that needs to be pulled back to access.
13. Connect the Power Commander 6 in-line with the stock wiring harness and the crank position sensor.
14. Install the Power Commander 6 in the tail section of the motorcycle near the exhaust servo. Alternatively, it can be installed on the right side of the battery if desired.
15. Reinstall the airbox, fuel tank, cover, and seat.
16. Finally, download the latest map files from the Dynojet website at dynojet.com/tunes.
