Cleaning the La Pavoni PC-16 Professional Espresso Machine is an important step to maintain its performance and longevity. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to clean the machine:
1. Before cleaning, make sure the machine is unplugged and has cooled down.
2. Remove the coffee handle and filters from the group head.
3. Clean the coffee handle, filters, and coffee press with warm water and mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
4. Wipe the group head and steam wand with a damp cloth to remove any coffee residue.
5. To descale the machine, fill the boiler with water until the water level reaches the top of the sight glass. Add a coffee descaler powder (included with the machine) to the boiler.
6. Close the boiler cap and steam xxxx tightly.
7. Turn on the machine and allow it to reach operating temperature. Leave the machine on for 10 minutes to allow the descaler to work. Water may exit from the safety valve during this process.
8. After 10 minutes, place a container under the group head and slowly raise the lever to discharge water until the sight glass shows a 1/4 tank of water remaining.
9. Lower the lever and switch off the power. Raise the lever again to allow the remaining water to exit.
10. Repeat steps 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 to flush out all the descaler solution. This cleaning procedure should be repeated 4 to 5 times a year, depending on usage.
11. For daily cleaning, wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth. Do not use any abrasives or ammonia-based products.
12. If you live in a hard water area and experience mineral build-up, follow the instructions for descaling more frequently.
It is important to refer to the instruction manual for specific cleaning instructions and safety precautions. Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure optimal performance and extend the lifespan of your La Pavoni PC-16 Professional Espresso Machine.
