To install the ZENNER VL-9M Remote Reader, follow these steps:
1. Use the VL-9M base as a template to locate and mark the mounting holes on the outside wall of the building. It is recommended to install the VL-9M at eye level in an easily accessible location.
2. Remove the VL-9M cover using a 9/64 Allen Wrench.
3. Secure the VL-9M base to the wall using the mounting dimensions provided in the installation drawing. Drill the locating holes accordingly.
4. Run a 3-conductor cable from the water meter to the VL-9M. The maximum distance between the meter and the remote reader should not exceed 1000 ft. It is recommended to use a 3-conductor 22 gauge solid core wire. Note: Do not place the cable in a conduit with conductors carrying A/C.
5. Attach the cable to both the water meter and the VL-9M, following the connecting schematic provided. Ensure that the connections are secure and protected.
6. Tap the VL-9M to test the installation. The meter reading and serial number should be displayed. You may also see error messages if there are any issues with the installation.
7. Comply with all necessary ordinances and codes during the installation process.
8. Exercise caution when drilling holes in walls, as there may be electricals inside. Wear safety glasses and ensure that all debris from the installation is secured and cleaned.
