To remove the factory radio from your Jeep Grand Cherokee 1996-1998, follow these steps:
1. Let the vehicle sit with the key out of the ignition for a few minutes before removing the factory radio.
2. Unsnap the climate control/wiper control trim panel and remove it.
3. Unsnap the headlight switch trim panel and remove it.
4. Remove the Phillips screws (10 in total) from the top and bottom of the radio/instrument cluster trim bezel. Pry out on the bottom edge of the bezel and remove it.
5. Remove the two 3/8" hexhead screws securing the factory radio and disconnect the wiring.
Once you have completed these steps, you can proceed with installing the Metra 107-CH5 kit for your new radio.
