To properly fill and pressurize the CHAPIN 19099 Evolution Compressor-charged Sprayer, follow these steps:
1. Pre-Use Check:
- Check the tightness of the hose nut to ensure that the hose is securely attached to the tank outlet.
- Inspect the hose for any signs of deterioration, cracks, softness, or brittleness. If any of these conditions are found, replace the hose with original manufacturer's parts.
- Remove the pump and inspect the interior and exterior of the tank for signs of deterioration. If any signs are found, discard the tank immediately and replace it.
- Follow the Filling, Pressurizing, and Spraying Instructions using water only to test for leaks.
- Inspect all metal parts, including the wand, nozzle, and fittings, for rust, corrosion, and pitting. Replace any affected parts with original manufacturer's parts.
2. Filling:
- Turn the pump handle counterclockwise and remove the pump.
- Prepare the spray solution following all directions and safety warnings on the chemical label.
- Fill the tank to no more than the proper gallon marker. Do not overfill to accommodate the pump.
- Check the pump to ensure that no grass or dirt is stuck to the barrel. Replace the pump in the tank and tighten it securely.
3. Pressurizing and Spraying:
- To lock the handle, push it down to depress the coil spring and turn it 1/4 turn clockwise. Allow the handle to raise into the lock position.
- To lock the pump, place the pump prongs down into the slots in the funnel. Turn the clamp clockwise to the furthest position under the bottom slot. Then, turn the handle clockwise until it is tightly locked and sealed in place.
- To unlock the pump, turn the handle counterclockwise until the 3-prong clamp is loose. Then, rotate the clamp counterclockwise to stop and lift it out.
- To release the handle, push it down to depress the coil spring and turn it counterclockwise 1/4 turn, then lift the handle.
- Pump until you feel resistance.
4. Special Valve to Pressurize Sprayer:
- Set the compressor regulator at 50 PSI.
- Remove the plastic cap from the tire valve stem.
- Pressurize the sprayer by using a standard air chuck connected to an air compressor, similar to inflating a car tire. After pressurizing, replace the plastic cap on the tire valve.
