To change the grinding stone on the SEALEY BG150BS bench grinder, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that the grinder is unplugged from the mains power supply before starting.
2. Raise the eye shield up and away from the stone.
3. Remove the tool rest.
4. Remove the screws from the side of the wheel cover and remove the cover.
5. Hold the grinding stone firmly, using cloth or gloves to protect your hands. Unscrew the retaining nut. Note that the left side nut has a left-hand thread and must be loosened by turning clockwise. It may be necessary to strike the wrench sharply in the loosening direction with the heel of your hand to loosen the nut.
6. Remove the grinding stone washer, blotter, stone, 2nd blotter, and washer from the main spindle.
7. Carefully inspect the new stone before installing it to ensure there are no fissures, chips, or cracks. DO NOT use a damaged stone.
8. Inspect the blotters. If they are damaged, replace them. The grinder must never be used without blotters. If you don't have any available, cut out a piece of suitable cardboard of the same shape for temporary use only.
9. Install the new stone by reversing the steps above. Ensure that the washers are installed with the flange on the outside, i.e., the concave side against the blotter.
10. Hold the stone steady and secure the locking nut. DO NOT over tighten as this may crack the stone.
11. Replace the stone cover and re-adjust the tool rest to a maximum of 2mm from the stone face. Tighten securely.
Please refer to section 5 of the instruction manual for more detailed information and safety precautions regarding changing the grinding stone.
