To remove the OEM shifter and install the ZEROPOINTONE Megane mk2- Clio mk3 Carbon Edition Shifter, follow these steps:
1. Disconnect the car's battery before beginning the removal process.
2. Remove the exhaust heat shield by either removing the center section of the exhaust or loosening one of the exhaust clamps to gain better access.
3. Carefully remove the center console, including the OEM gear shifter gear xxxx and gator.
4. Remove the OEM shifter bolts from the bottom of the vehicle.
5. Remove the bottom plate of the OEM shifter to access the cables. Release the cables by unclipping the two horse shoe clips and uncouple them from the ball studs.
6. To install the ZEROPOINTONE shifter, add double-sided foam tape or RTV sealant to the top of the base to create a gas-tight fit.
7. Insert the shifter from the bottom of the vehicle into the tunnel, aligning the four base bolts with the holes in the tunnel. Fasten the shifter from inside the vehicle using the provided nuts. Tighten the nuts fully before attaching the base plate.
8. Connect the cables by feeding them through the corresponding holes and pushing the cable ends onto the ball studs. Attach the horse shoe-shaped clips to retain the cables to the base.
9. Adjust the grub screws to allow all gears to be engaged. Shift the gearbox into 1st and 2nd gears, and if needed, xxxx out the grub xxxx indicated by the green arrow. Repeat the same steps for gears 5 and 6, using the grub xxxx indicated by the yellow arrow. Actuate the reverse pin by pulling the reverse plunger near the gear xxxx and xxxx in the grub xxxx indicated by the blue arrow until reverse can be selected correctly.
10. Bolt the cover plate onto the base from underneath the vehicle. Apply minimal torque on the bolts and use loctite to prevent torque loss over time.
11. Reinstall the heat shields, exhaust, undershields, battery tray, air filter, and reconnect the battery.
12. Before setting off, ensure that all moving parts on the shifter are lubricated and check that all gears can be engaged. It is advised to take small test drives and make re-adjustments if necessary.
