Sure! Here are the step-by-step instructions for installing the Barkbusters BHG-105 Aluminum Handguard Kit:
1. Start by removing the original handguards and bar end weight, if they are already fitted on your motorcycle.
2. Begin the installation on the right side. For the left side, use the clamp connector provided (part 5).
3. Loosely assemble the clamp to the handlebar, following the diagram provided. Make sure to use the OEM bar end weight.
4. Attach the handguard backbone (part 1) to the handlebar end and also to the clamp connector (part 5) using the applicable parts provided.
5. Position the backbone so that it is horizontal when viewed from the side.
6. Tighten all bolts in the following order: (9), (8), (3), and then (6).
Please note that the recommended torque settings for the bolts are as follows:
- M6: 10 Nm (7.4 lbf ft)
- M8: 20 Nm (14.8 lbf ft)
It is important to exercise caution during the installation process as it is safety-relevant work and can be complicated. If you are unsure or uncomfortable with the installation, we recommend having it performed by a motorcycle service technician to ensure proper mounting and avoid any damages. Rideworx, the manufacturer, does not accept liability for damages caused by improper mounting.
After the first 50 km of riding, it is advised to check that all screws, bolts, and nuts are tightened to the correct torque. It is also recommended to use a medium strength liquid thread lock product on all fasteners.
Additionally, it is crucial to ensure there is a working clearance of approximately 3mm between the throttle grip end and the handguard to ensure a free closing throttle. Check the operation of all handlebar controls, including the throttle, front brake, kill switch, and clutch, to ensure they are operating correctly and in accordance with the OEM specifications. Do not ride the motorcycle if any controls are not functioning properly.
Please note that these handguards are intended for use with motorcycles/ATVs/snowmobiles/scooters that have not been modified. They are not designed to prevent injury or death while riding or in an accident or crash. The user must ensure that all controls are free of the handguards every time they ride.
