To install the VANCE HINES 17387 PCX Pro Pipe on your Harley Softail 2018-2022, please follow the instructions provided in the instruction manual. Here is a step-by-step guide:
1. Start by removing the stock exhaust system. Locate the rear O2 sensor connector and remove the right side cover. Unplug the front O2 sensor connector and feed the wire through the frame. Loosen the necessary bolts or mounting brackets to gain clearance for exhaust removal.
2. Loosen the heat shield clamps on both the front and rear exhaust pipes. Remove the two mounting nuts from each head pipe located at the cylinder head. Remove the bolts attaching the mufflers to the mounting bracket. Carefully remove the entire exhaust system and set it aside.
3. Remove the stock mounting bracket and O2 sensors from the stock head pipes. Save the O2 sensors for re-use with the new system. Remove the exhaust port flanges and circlips from the stock exhaust system using snap ring pliers.
4. Install the provided brackets onto the frame using the supplied bolts and washers. Place each heat shield on a non-abrasive surface and mark the location of the hose clamp mounting clips.
5. Lay the header assembly into the front and rear heat shields and loosely install the hose clamps into the mounting clips. Apply anti-seize compound to the threads of the oxygen sensors and install the supplied oxygen sensor adapters and sensors.
6. Install the flanges and circlips from the stock system onto the new header pipes. Carefully install the header assembly onto the motorcycle, finger tighten only at this time.
7. Install the torca band clamp onto the end of the muffler body. Install the muffler assembly onto the rear of the header assembly. Slide the nut plate into the bracket on the backside of the muffler and loosely install the flange head bolts.
8. Install the collector heat shield onto the header by sliding it on from the rear. Attach the collector heat shield with the provided hose clamps, finger tighten only at this time.
9. Slip the muffler body heat shield onto the muffler body and secure with hose clamps. Tighten the exhaust port flange nuts, flange head bolts, and torca band clamps. Tighten the hose clamps securing the heat shields, making sure they are flush.
10. Route the O2 sensor wires away from hot areas of the motorcycle and plug them back into the wiring harness. Re-install the right side cover and tighten any necessary mounting bolts or brackets.
11. For specific instructions regarding floor-board models, mid-mount models, or forward control models, refer to the instruction manual.
12. Before starting your motorcycle, thoroughly clean the pipes and mufflers with soap and water and a clean soft cloth. Avoid long periods of idling and make sure there are no exhaust leaks at the junction of the exhaust pipes and cylinder head.
