To install the Regalo 1165 W Easy Step Extra Wide Safety Gate, follow these steps:
1. Before assembly, make sure you have all the necessary parts, including a 4" extension, gate frame, wall cups, 1" wall mount screws, and threaded spindle rods.
2. Start by rotating the adjustment wheels on each of the four threaded spindle rods to eliminate the gap between the adjustment wheel and the rubber foot.
3. Insert the threaded spindle rods into the holes at each of the four corners of the gate.
4. Position the gate so that it is level and centered within your doorway or opening. Rotate the adjustment wheels on the threaded spindle rods in the opposite direction, expanding the gap between the rubber foot and the adjustment wheel.
5. Expand each of the threaded spindle rods until they make contact with the doorway or opening. Do not fully tighten them yet.
6. Ensure that the gap between the gate and wall does not exceed 2.5 inches. Make any necessary adjustments to ensure the gate is installed safely.
7. Once you are satisfied with the placement of the gate, fully tighten the threaded spindle rods attached to the lower corners of the gate by rotating the adjustment wheels. Then, tighten the upper threaded spindle rods. Stop tightening the upper rods just before the outer housing of the secure lift latch and the receiving component touch.
8. Check that there is equal spacing among each of the four threaded spindle rods. Make any necessary adjustments to ensure the gate is installed safely.
9. To operate the door latch, pull the spring lock away from the secure lift latch while simultaneously lifting the lock lever upwards. This will release the locking latch from the gate frame and allow the door to open. To lock the door shut, close it completely and push down on the lock lever to re-engage the spring lock.
10. At the bottom of the gate door, rotate the base lock to the horizontal position to allow the door to swing open. Place the lock down on the side occupied by the child.
11. After mounting the gate, draw circles on the surface of your doorway or opening around the rubber feet. Remove the gate and use the circles as guides to xxxx in the wall cups. Center each wall cup within the guide circles and use the provided self-tapping screws to fasten them in place. Reinstall the gate using the newly installed wall cups as anchoring points for the threaded spindle rods.
