To connect the Teac TN100B turntable to your computer for recording, you will need a USB cable (with a ferrite core) and audio recording software. Here are the steps to connect and record:
1. Turn on your computer and make sure it is working correctly.
2. Use the USB cable to connect the USB B type port on the turntable to a USB port on your computer.
3. Press the STANDBY/ON button on the back of the turntable to turn it on.
4. The computer will automatically detect the turntable's USB port and identify it as "USB Audio CODEC".
5. Install audio recording software on your computer. You can purchase software or download free software like Audacity from the internet. Note that Audacity is not supported by TEAC.
6. Open the audio recording software on your computer.
7. In the software's settings, select "USB Audio CODEC" as the default recording device.
8. Set the desired sampling frequency and quantization bit depth for the recording. Higher sampling frequencies provide better audio quality but require more file space.
9. Start the recording in the software and play the record on the turntable.
10. Monitor the recording levels and adjust them as needed.
11. When the recording is complete, stop the recording in the software.
12. Save the recorded audio file to your computer.
