To set up the Blue Yeti USB microphone for recording on your computer, follow these steps:
1. Connect the microphone to your computer using the supplied USB cable. The LED above the Blue logo on the microphone will glow red, indicating that power has reached the mic.
2. On a Windows computer (Windows 7, 8.1, or 10), go to the Start menu and select the Control Panel. Then, select the Sound icon. On a Mac computer (macOS 10.10 or higher), open System Preferences and select the Sound icon.
3. In the Sound settings, click on the Recording tab (Windows) or the Input tab (Mac). Select "Yeti" as the recording input.
4. In the Sound settings, click on the Playback tab (Windows) or the Output tab (Mac). Select "Yeti" as the playback output.
5. Adjust the microphone gain (sensitivity) by turning the microphone gain xxxx on the Blue Yeti. Turn it right to increase the level and left to reduce the level.
6. Select the desired polar pattern (stereo, cardioid, omnidirectional, or bidirectional) by rotating the pattern selector xxxx on the Blue Yeti. Choose the pattern that best suits your recording needs.
7. Use the headphone volume control on the Blue Yeti to adjust the headphone output volume.
8. If you want to mount the Blue Yeti on a standard microphone studio mount, remove it from the included desk stand and thread in a standard threaded mount. For better isolation from noise and vibration, you can add the Radius III shock mount.
Note: The Blue Yeti USB microphone is compatible with various recording software programs such as Audacity, Garageband, iMovie, Ableton, Skype, and more. Simply plug the mic into your computer, select Yeti as the recording input within your chosen software, and start recording.
