To clean the Elite Gourmet EKT1220M electric kettle and remove mineral deposits or limescale buildup, follow these steps:
1. Always disconnect the appliance from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
2. Never immerse the base or cord in water or allow moisture in these parts.
3. To remove mineral deposits and limescale, you have two options:
a. Use a non-toxic cleaner specifically designed for descaling electric kettles. Follow the instructions on the cleaner's packaging for the recommended amount to use and the cleaning process.
b. Alternatively, you can use white vinegar. Fill the kettle with 3 cups of white vinegar and the remainder with water. Let it stand overnight. Do not boil the solution. Empty the solution from the kettle, and any stains remaining inside the spout can be removed by rubbing with a damp cloth. Fill the kettle with water, bring it to a boil, and then discard the water. Repeat this process, and the kettle will be ready to use.
4. The outside of the kettle can be wiped with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemical cleansers on the outside of the kettle.
5. Clean the filter with a damp cloth at regular intervals to remove any debris or buildup.
