To clean your Hamilton Beach 40930 glass electric kettle, follow these steps:
1. Fill the kettle with 1/2 teaspoon of cream of tartar (available in the spice aisle of a grocery store) or 1 tablespoon of white vinegar or lemon juice.
2. Fill the kettle halfway with water.
3. Plug in the kettle and turn it on (I) to start the boiling process.
4. Once the water has boiled, turn off the kettle (O) and unplug it.
5. Allow the kettle to cool down.
6. Rinse the kettle several times with clean tap water.
7. If there is discoloration or scale/lime deposit on the heating element, repeat the process by adding the cleaning agent and water, boiling, cooling, and rinsing.
Note: Do not use abrasive scouring pads or powders as they may scratch the glass surface of the kettle. Also, do not immerse the kettle, power base, or plug in water or any other liquid.
