The Coby CVR22 Portable Tape Cassette Recorder can be powered in three ways: with batteries, an AC power converter, or a car adapter. To power the recorder with batteries, you need to insert 4 R14 or C Cell-size batteries into the battery compartment. Make sure to follow the correct polarity as indicated on the battery diagram. If the recorder sounds distorted or the tape reels turn slowly or not at all, try replacing the batteries or using another cassette before seeking service. It is important to remove the batteries when storing the device for more than a few weeks to prevent damage from leaking batteries. The AC power converter can be plugged into the 6-V DC PWR JACK on the recorder and into a 230-volt AC household power outlet. The car adapter, which is optional, can be plugged into the 6-V DC PWR JACK on the recorder and into the cigarette lighter socket in a car.
