To connect the Klipsch R-14M Reference Bookshelf Speakers to your amplifier or receiver, follow these steps:
1. Gather the necessary speaker wire: You will need a 16-12 gauge speaker wire for the connection.
2. Identify the positive and negative terminals: On the back of each speaker, locate the red "positive" (+) terminal and the black "negative" (-) terminal.
3. Connect the left speaker: Take one end of the speaker wire and connect the red "positive" (+) terminal of the left speaker to the corresponding red "positive" (+) terminal on your amplifier's left channel. Then, connect the black "negative" (-) terminal of the left speaker to the corresponding black "negative" (-) terminal on your amplifier's left channel.
4. Repeat for the right speaker: Take the other end of the speaker wire and repeat the same connections for the right speaker, connecting it to the right channel of your amplifier.
5. Bi-wiring (optional): If your speakers have dual binding posts and you want to bi-wire them, refer to your receiver's manual for further instructions. Note that the Klipsch R-14M Reference Bookshelf Speakers come with a metal strip connecting the binding posts, which should not be removed.
6. Amplifier compatibility: Klipsch speakers are highly efficient and compatible with a wide variety of amplifiers. They are 8-ohm compatible and can be driven to high levels with low distortion. However, it is important to exercise caution with the volume control to avoid damaging your hearing or the speakers. Check your amplifier's manual or consult with your dealer to ensure it is best suited for your application.
Please refer to the user manual for additional information and diagrams (Diagram 3 in the manual) on the connection process.
