To install the WFCO WF-9845 Series Deckmount Converter-Charger, follow these steps:
1. Mount the enclosure: Select a mounting location near the shore power and battery in an accessible area. Ensure there is enough clearance for ventilation and avoid excessive heat, water, moisture, dust, and dirt. Allow two cubic feet of clear airspace and additional venting if necessary. Do not obstruct the front of the enclosure to allow for proper airflow.
2. Bond the converter-charger to the vehicle frame: Use an 8AWG copper conductor to bond the WF-9845 to the vehicle frame.
3. Make DC connections: Connect a red 8 AWG wire to the POS+ lug on the distribution center's fuse board and a black 8 AWG wire to the NEG- lug on the distribution center's fuse board.
4. Connect the battery (optional): A battery is not required for converter operation, but if you choose to install one, connect it to the converter's output. Use deep-cycle batteries of the same brand and type, preferably the same age. Ensure proper wiring connections.
5. Make AC connections: The WF-9845 receives power from a power cord. The WF-9835, WF-9845, and WF-9855 have a standard 15 Amp plug, while the WF-9865 and WF-9875 have a 20 Amp plug. Ensure proper wiring back to the fuse box using 12AWG wire minimum.
