To install the Cerwin Vega H7410 2-Way Coaxial Speakers in your car, follow these steps:
1. Select a location: If your vehicle has existing factory locations for speakers, it is recommended to replace them with the same size speakers. If there are no factory speaker locations, choose the best locations possible, ensuring equal distance from your ears for optimal sound quality.
2. Door Mounting (if not using factory locations): Before cutting, remove the panel from the door and check for clearance in the intended installation area. Avoid cutting any structural metal support or braces. It is also recommended to use a sound deadening mat on the door "skin" for better sound quality.
3. Rear Deck Mounting: There are two primary methods for mounting speakers in the rear deck - top mounting and bottom mounting. Top mounting requires dropping the speakers in through the deck, while bottom mounting secures the speakers from underneath. Ensure a good seal around the frame for optimal performance.
4. Running new wiring: In most cases, you can use the factory supplied wiring for mounting new speakers. However, if new wires need to be run, use precautions such as using a grommet when running wire through metal to prevent damage. Never run wire through bare metal to avoid damaging the source unit, amplifier, or speakers.
5. Tweeter Installation: When flush or surface mounting tweeters, ensure the desired location can accommodate the hole sizes and depth required. The tweeter can also be surface mounted atop the dash, door, or rear deck. Follow the provided instructions for mounting the tweeter cup and connecting the wires.
6. Crossover Installation: Install the passive crossovers in a well-ventilated area whenever possible. If installing them in the doors, ensure they are installed behind the door panel instead of inside the door itself to avoid water damage. Connect the input side labeled "AMP" to the amplifier's speaker output terminals and connect the middle terminals labeled "MID" to the midrange speaker. Finally, connect the end terminals labeled "TWT" to the tweeter, observing correct polarity.
