To light the pilot on the Mr. Heater MHVFBF20LPT Vent-Free 20,000 BTU Blue Flame Propane Heater, follow these step-by-step instructions:
1. Turn off all electric power to the appliance and make sure the equipment shutoff valve is fully open.
2. Push in the gas control xxxx and slightly turn it clockwise to the OFF position.
3. Wait for at least five minutes to clear out any gas. Smell for gas, including near the floor. If you smell gas, stop and follow the safety instructions provided.
4. Push in and turn the control xxxx counterclockwise to the PILOT position. Press and hold the control xxxx in for five seconds.
5. While continuing to hold the control xxxx in, press down and release the ignition button to light the pilot. If needed, keep pressing the ignitor button until the pilot lights.
6. Keep holding the control xxxx in for 30 seconds after the pilot is lit. Then, release the control xxxx .
7. If the pilot does not stay lit, refer to the troubleshooting section of the manual or contact a qualified service person or gas supplier for assistance.
8. Once the pilot is lit, turn the control xxxx counterclockwise to the desired heating level. The main burner should light.
9. To select the desired heat level, turn the temperature setting xxxx counterclockwise to a number between 1 and 5.
