To connect the Dynaudio Evoke 50 Floorstanding Speaker to your amplifier, follow these steps:
1. Start by attaching the speaker cable to the speaker cabinet's connections. Ensure that the cable conductors with the designations "positive" and "negative" are connected to the positive (red) and negative (black) speaker terminals, respectively.
2. Depending on the type of cable connectors being used, the speaker connection procedure varies:
- For 4 mm plugs: Insert the plugs directly into the speaker terminals' ends. Although the terminals don't need to be tightened, it's a good idea to do so to reduce the likelihood of mechanical buzzing.
- For stripped cables: Insert the stripped cables into the terminal post holes after completely unscrewing the speaker terminals. Make sure there are no loose cable strands. The stripped cable strands can be twisted together for further support. Securely fasten the terminals to the stripped cable. It's recommended to periodically check the tightness of the terminals after the initial tightening.
- For cable spades: Unscrew the speaker terminals completely before positioning each cable spade arm on either side of a terminal post. Tighten the terminals firmly to secure the cable spades. It's advisable to periodically check the tightness of the terminals after the initial tightening.
3. Once the speakers are connected, you can attach the cables to the amplifier's speaker output terminals. Connect the cables from the left speaker to the left-channel amplifier terminals and the cables from the right speaker to the right-channel amplifier terminals. Ensure that the amplifier is turned off before making these connections.
4. If your setup includes a multi-channel home theatre system, connect each speaker to the amplifier terminals designated for surround and center channels.
5. When connecting the cables, make sure that a cable conductor labeled "positive" is linked to the positive (red) amplifier and speaker terminals, and a conductor labeled "negative" is connected to the negative (black) amplifier and speaker terminals.
