To install the Cerwin Vega H7694 4-Way Coaxial Speakers in your car, follow these steps:
1. Select a location: If your vehicle has existing factory locations for speakers, it is recommended to replace them with the same size speakers. If there are no factory speaker locations, choose the best locations possible, ensuring equal distance from your ears for optimal sound quality.
2. Door Mounting: If not using factory locations, remove the door panel and check for clearance in the intended installation area. Avoid cutting any structural metal support or braces. It is recommended to use a sound-deadening mat on the door "skin" for better sound quality.
3. Rear Deck Mounting: There are two primary methods for mounting speakers in the rear deck - top mounting and bottom mounting. Ensure a good seal around the frame for the best performance.
4. Running New Wiring: In most cases, you can use the factory-supplied wiring. However, if new wires need to be run, use a grommet when running wires through metal to prevent damage. Avoid running wire through bare metal to prevent damage to the source unit, amplifier, or speakers.
5. Tweeter Installation: When flush or surface mounting tweeters, ensure the desired location can accommodate the hole sizes and depth required. The tweeter can also be surface mounted atop the dash, door, or rear deck. Follow the provided instructions for mounting the tweeter.
6. Crossover Installation: Install the passive crossovers in a well-ventilated area, preferably behind the door panel instead of inside the door itself. Connect the input side labeled "AMP" to the amplifier's speaker output terminals, and connect the middle terminals labeled "MID" to the midrange speaker. Finally, connect the end terminals labeled "TWT" to the tweeter, observing correct polarity.
