To connect your Polk Audio HTS12 powered subwoofer to your receiver, you have a few options depending on the features of your receiver.
1. Sub Out Connection: If your receiver has a "Sub Out" feature, you can connect a single RCA cable from the "SUB OUT" of your receiver to the LFE input of the subwoofer. This connection method bypasses the subwoofer's internal filter and relies on the filter built into your receiver. Make sure not to connect to the Left or Right RCA jacks when using the LFE input. Also, do not use speaker wire to make the connection to the subwoofer.
2. Full-Range Pre Out Connection: If your receiver has full-range (unfiltered) Left and Right "Pre Out" jacks, you can use this connection method. Connect the left and right preamp output from your receiver to the left and right LINE LEVEL input of the subwoofer using RCA cables. Again, do not use speaker wires for this connection. In this configuration, you will need to adjust the settings on your receiver. Set the front speakers to "LARGE" and the subwoofer to "OFF" or "NO". You will also need to set the subwoofer's crossover manually.
It is important to consult your receiver's owner's manual for specific instructions on speaker configuration and settings. Additionally, refer to the Polk Audio HTS12 Power Port Technology Instruction Manual for further guidance on connecting and adjusting your subwoofer.
Remember to always turn off the subwoofer and receiver before making any connections to prevent damage.
