To install the ELAC IC-D61-W Custom In-Ceiling Speaker, follow these steps:
1. Carefully cut out the hole in the wall or ceiling using the provided paper template. Make clean cuts using a utility knife, keyhole saw, or electric jigsaw.
2. Run the speaker cables into position, leaving about two feet of extra cable exposed at the opening. Strip the ends of the cable back by approximately ¼ inch (6mm) to expose the bare wire.
3. Attach the speaker cables to the speaker terminals, observing the correct polarity. The wire attached to the "+" (red, positive, or hot) terminal on your ELAC speaker should connect to the "+" (red, positive, or hot) terminal on the other component.
4. Remove the grille from the speaker frame by gently pulling it toward you. The grille is held on by magnetic attraction.
5. Insert the speaker into the mounting hole, ensuring that all the tabs are rotated inwards. Connect the speaker wires to the spring-loaded connector posts on the side of the post. Make sure no stray strands of wire are exposed that could short across between the two posts.
6. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to turn each mounting xxxx clockwise to rotate the quick-turn mounting bracket into place. Further turning of the xxxx will tighten the mounting bracket until it is firmly against the wall. Do not over-tighten the xxxx to prevent breakage of the mounting bracket.
7. Once the speaker is mounted firmly in place, replace the magnetic grille by aligning it with the speaker frame and gently pushing it into place.
