To install the Cerwin Vega H765C Component Speaker System in your vehicle, follow these steps:
1. Selecting a Location: If your vehicle has existing factory locations for speakers, it is recommended to replace them with the same size speakers. If there are no factory speaker locations, choose the best locations possible, ensuring that the speakers are equal distance from your ears for optimal sound quality.
2. Door Mounting: If you are not using factory locations, remove the door panel and check for clearance in the intended installation area. Avoid cutting any structural metal support or braces. It is also recommended to use a sound-deadening mat on the door "skin" for better sound quality.
3. Rear Deck Mounting: There are two primary methods for mounting speakers in the rear deck - top mounting and bottom mounting. Top mounting requires dropping the speakers through the deck, while bottom mounting secures the speakers from underneath. Ensure a good seal around the speaker frame for optimal performance.
4. Running New Wiring: In most cases, you can use the factory-supplied wiring for mounting new speakers. However, if new wires need to be run, use precautions such as using a grommet when running wires through metal to prevent damage. Avoid running wire through bare metal to prevent damage to the source unit, amplifier, or speakers.
5. Tweeter Installation: When flush or surface mounting tweeters, ensure that the desired location can accommodate the hole sizes and depth required. The tweeter can also be surface mounted on the dash, door, or rear deck. Follow the provided instructions for mounting the tweeter and connecting the wires.
6. Crossover Installation: Install the passive crossovers in a well-ventilated area, preferably behind the door panel instead of inside the door itself. Connect the input side labeled "AMP" of each passive crossover to the amplifier's speaker output terminals. Connect the middle terminals labeled "MID" to the midrange speaker and the end terminals labeled "TWT" to the tweeter. Ensure correct polarity when connecting the tweeter to its lead wires.
