Yes, you can paint the Polk Audio MC65 High-Performance In-Wall Speaker to match your room decor. The instruction guide provides detailed steps on how to paint the speaker. Here are the steps:
1. Remove the grille by carefully hooking it with a bent paper clip and pulling it gently away from the frame.
2. Use the supplied paint masks to carefully mask off the front of the speakers to protect the drivers and baffles while painting.
3. Apply paint to the exposed parts of the speaker using two or more thin coats. Spray painting is recommended.
4. Once the paint is completely dry, remove the masking material.
5. For the grille, carefully remove the fabric scrim by peeling it away from the inside of the grille.
6. Spray on two thin coats of finish color to the grille. Be careful not to fill the holes in the grille with paint.
7. When the grille is dry, carefully press the fabric scrim back into place on the inside of the grille.
8. Reinstall the grille by fitting it into its recess and gently pushing it into the grille notch.
It is important to note that the grille must be spray painted, and not brushed, to avoid clogging the grille holes. Additionally, the MC Series In-Wall Loudspeakers should not be placed closer than 1' (30cm) from a television or video monitor to prevent discoloration or distortion.
