To properly fit and use the SureFire EP5 Sonic Defenders Max Full-Block Earplugs, follow these instructions:
1. Starting with the EarLock® retention ring oriented slightly backward, rotate the earplug forward while inserting the stem of the right EP5 (marked with an R on the retention ring) into the right ear canal deep enough for the uppermost flange to seal. Fit the retention ring to the natural contour of the concha bowl surrounding the ear canal to lock the earplug in place.
2. Repeat the process with the left earplug (marked with an L on the retention ring) for the left ear.
3. Test the fit by clapping your hands. If you do not notice a noticeable decrease in volume, reinsert and retest.
4. When removing the earplugs, slowly twist them to break the stem's seal.
It is important to note that improper fit of the earplugs will reduce their effectiveness in attenuating noise. If you are unable to achieve a proper fit following the instructions, it is recommended to discontinue use.
For stem adjustment, you can pull out or push in the stem to lengthen or shorten it for comfort. The EP5 Sonic Defenders Max also come with a lanyard that can be connected to the earplugs by inserting the lanyard ends into the small holes on the outside of the retention rings.
To clean the earplugs, you can use mild soap and water or alcohol swabs. Allow them to air dry before storing them in the included container. It is important to regularly inspect the earplugs and replace them when they become stiff and hardened.
