To properly set up the ELAC DC52-BK Debut 2.0 C5.2 Center Speaker, follow these steps:
1. Choose a level surface: Install the speaker on a level surface to ensure stability and optimal performance.
2. Avoid certain locations: Do not place the speaker in direct sunlight, very humid areas, locations prone to vibrations, exceptionally hot or cold areas, near CRT televisions (as they are not magnetically shielded), or close to magnetic cards (as they can cause the speaker to fail).
3. Ensure stability: Make sure the speaker is stable and won't tip over. You can increase stability by using spikes on carpeted surfaces or using Velcro fastening tape or double-sided adhesive tape on slippery floors.
4. Avoid heat sources: Do not install the speaker near heat sources such as radiators, heating valves, stoves, or other heat-producing apparatus.
5. Maintain ventilation: Do not block any ventilation openings on the speaker. Install it according to the manufacturer's instructions.
6. Speaker cleaning: Clean the speaker with a soft, smooth cloth or a dust brush. Do not use scouring agents, alcohol, benzene, furniture polish, or other cleaning agents.
7. Speaker placement: Place the speaker approximately one to two feet away from boundaries such as walls and corners. Close proximity to a side or rear wall can enhance bass performance, but being too close to a corner may result in unnatural bass. If a corner location is unavoidable, position the speaker so that the distance to the rear wall is not equal to the distance to the side wall.
8. Stereo setup: For the best stereo image and sound, create an equilateral triangle between the speakers and your listening position. If the left and right speakers are too far apart, angle them (toe in) towards the listening position for a more focused central image.
9. Surround sound setup: If using the speaker in a surround sound setup, avoid placing the surround speakers forward of your listening position. Spread the surround speakers apart wider than the front speakers and elevate them to the same height or slightly higher as the front speakers for an enveloping sound field.
10. Center speaker setup: Position the ELAC C5.2 Center Speaker above or below your television, aligning it with the center of the TV. Try to keep the center speaker close to the same level as your front speakers for an even sound stage. Tilt the center speaker up or down if necessary to aim it towards the listening area.
