To connect speakers to the TEAC AP-701B Stereo Power Amplifier, follow these steps:
1. Make sure the amplifier is turned off and unplugged from the power outlet.
2. Identify the SPEAKER terminals on the back of the amplifier. These terminals are labeled with red (+) and black (-) markings.
3. Determine the impedance of your speakers. The AP-701B supports speakers with nominal impedances between 4 Ω and 8 Ω.
4. Prepare your speaker cables. Use commercially-available speaker cables and ensure they are of sufficient length to reach your speakers.
5. Strip about one centimeter (1/2") of insulation from the ends of the speaker cables and twist the core wires well.
6. For bare speaker wires:
a. Turn the terminal caps counterclockwise to loosen them.
b. Insert the wires into the holes in the terminal posts, with the red wire in the red terminal and the black wire in the black terminal.
c. Turn the terminal caps clockwise to securely connect the wires. Make sure the wire insulation is not touching the terminal.
d. Gently pull the cables to confirm they are fastened securely.
7. For spade connectors:
a. Insert the connectors between the caps and bases of the terminals.
b. Tighten the caps securely.
8. For banana plugs:
a. Connect the banana plugs to the speaker cables according to the instructions provided with the plugs.
b. Insert the plugs into the corresponding terminals on the amplifier.
c. Keep the caps tightened when in use.
9. Repeat steps 6-8 for the other speaker.
10. Double-check all connections to ensure they are secure and properly connected.
11. Once the speakers are connected, you can turn on the amplifier and adjust the volume using a preamplifier or another device with volume control.
