According to the Klipsch RP-400M Reference Premiere Bookshelf Speakers user manual, here are the recommended guidelines for speaker placement:
1. Left and Right Main Channel Speakers: It is suggested to place the speakers 6 to 15 feet (1.8 to 4.6m) apart for optimum performance. You can also toe them in slightly for better stereo imaging. The listening position should be about 1 to 1.5 times the distance separating the speakers.
2. Center Channel Speaker: The center channel speaker is designed to reproduce dialogue and primary sounds, so it should be placed as close to the screen as possible, preferably directly on top of or below the screen.
3. Rear Surround Channel Speakers: Klipsch WDST surround speakers should be placed approximately 2 feet above the listening position, which is typically about 5-7 feet above the floor. The surrounds should be placed on the walls directly adjacent to the listening position or on the wall behind the listening position. The final surround speaker placement depends on your room's characteristics.
It is important to follow these placement guidelines to ensure optimal sound dispersion and imaging. By positioning the speakers correctly, you can enhance your listening experience and enjoy the full capabilities of the Klipsch RP-400M bookshelf speakers. For visual reference, please refer to Figures 1, 2, 3, and 4 in the user manual.
