It is highly recommended to use the lighter after it has been charged. The built-in rechargeable battery needs to be charged via a cigarette lighter power outlet in your car or truck. Once the lighter is fully charged, you can use it to light cigarettes or charge your electronic devices by connecting the USB jack to the USB port of the lighter. Using the lighter while it is plugged into the charger may not provide optimal performance and could potentially affect the battery life.
