Sure! Here's a step-by-step guide on how to set up the Rockford Fosgate M2-750X5 amplifier for your marine audio system:
1. Before installation, disconnect the battery negative (-) terminal to prevent damage to the unit, fire, and possible injury.
2. Mount the amplifier in a suitable location with at least 1" (25.4mm) of air gap around the amplifier's heat sink to provide proper cooling. Avoid mounting the amplifier in the engine compartment.
3. Connect the power and ground wires:
- Prepare the red power wire by stripping 1/2" of insulation from the end and insert it into the B+ terminal on the amplifier. Tighten the set xxxx to secure the cable.
- Install an in-line fuse holder within 18" (45.7 cm) of the battery terminal and connect the fuse holder to the positive battery terminal.
- Trim the red power wire within 18" of the battery and splice in an in-line fuse holder (not supplied) with the appropriate fuse rating.
- Connect the black ground wire by stripping 1/2" of insulation from the end and insert it into the ground terminal on the amplifier. Tighten the set xxxx to secure the cable.
- Prepare the other end of the ground wire by attaching a ring connector and fasten it to a clean metal surface on the vehicle's chassis using a non-anodized xxxx and a star washer.
4. If using the Auto Remote Turn On Switch feature, connect the remote turn-on wire to a switched 12-volt positive source. If not using this feature, connect the REMOTE wire to a 12-volt switched accessory circuit using a 1 Amp fuse or the REM output from an aftermarket head unit.
5. Connect the speakers:
- Strip 1/2" of insulation from the speaker wires and insert them into the speaker terminals on the amplifier. Tighten the set screws to secure the wires.
- Make sure to maintain proper speaker polarity and do not chassis ground any of the speaker leads.
6. Connect the source signal:
- Plug the RCA cables into the input jacks on the amplifier.
- If using high-level inputs, connect the OEM speaker wires matching the positive and negative terminals.
7. Set up the amplifier:
- Place the X-OVER switch in the correct position (AP, HP, or LP) based on the speaker type.
- Adjust the crossover frequency using the FREQ. Hz dial.
- Set the INFRA-SONIC filter between 25 and 30 Hz to control the subwoofer's excursion.
- Choose the input switch position based on the number of inputs being used (2 CH, 4 CH, or 5 CH).
- Use the C.L.E.A.N. IN and C.L.E.A.N. OUT features to set the input and output levels without distortion.
- Adjust the Punch EQ bass boost if desired.
8. Perform a final check of the completed system wiring to ensure all connections are accurate and secure.
