To connect external microphones to the Zoom H5 4-Track Portable Recorder, follow these steps:
1. Identify the type of microphones you want to connect. The Zoom H5 has two XLR/TRS combo inputs on the bottom panel, which can accept both XLR and 1/4" TRS connectors. Additionally, it has a stereo 1/8" mic/line input on the top panel.
2. For XLR microphones: Plug the XLR connector of your microphone into one of the XLR/TRS combo inputs on the bottom panel of the Zoom H5. Make sure to match the correct channel (1 or 2) on the recorder with the input you are using.
3. For 1/4" TRS microphones: Plug the 1/4" TRS connector of your microphone into one of the XLR/TRS combo inputs on the bottom panel of the Zoom H5. Again, ensure that you select the correct channel (1 or 2) on the recorder.
4. For stereo 1/8" microphones: Plug the stereo 1/8" connector of your microphone into the stereo 1/8" mic/line input on the top panel of the Zoom H5. This input can accept both stereo signals or mono signals from a compatible microphone.
5. Once you have connected your microphones, adjust the input settings on the Zoom H5 according to your requirements. You can adjust the input gain levels using the dedicated gain knobs for each channel.
