To set up the SVS PRMSAT2BLK Satellite Speakers, follow these steps:
1. Foot Options: The speakers come with two sets of foot support options. The Elastomer Isolation feet are pre-installed and can be removed and replaced with the included Threaded Metal Spike kit. Both sets of feet are threaded for easy leveling on uneven surfaces.
2. Acoustics & Room Placement: Proper placement of the speakers is important for optimal sound quality. SVS recommends starting with the front speakers located 30 degrees to the left and right of the listening position. Experiment with toe-in and distance from boundaries to achieve the best results. Room treatments like absorbers and diffusers can also improve sound quality.
3. Center Channel Placement: The center channel should be placed directly on-axis with the primary seating position. If it needs to be located below head level, tilting the speaker upward is recommended for better mid/high frequency response and dialogue intelligibility.
4. Surround Speakers: In a 5-channel system, side surround speakers should be located 90-110 degrees off-axis with the tweeter height about 2 feet above ear level. In a 7.1 system, rear surround speakers are placed behind the primary seating position at 135-150 degrees off-axis.
5. Speaker Mounting: The Prime Satellites can be wall-mounted using the pre-installed keyhole bracket. Attach a xxxx to the wall and hang the speaker by inserting the keyhole bracket over the xxxx . Use the included rubber bumpers to keep the speaker level and prevent spinning. Ensure the tweeter height is about 24-36 inches above ear level.
6. Speaker Connection: The speakers have gold-plated 5-way binding posts that accept various wire terminations. Connect each speaker to the appropriate amp channel of your receiver or power amplifier, maintaining proper polarity between the speaker and the amplifier.
7. Speaker Wire Gauge/Length Recommendations: SVS recommends the following wire gauges based on the speaker wire length: 18 gauge (AWG) for <10ft, 16 gauge (AWG) for <25ft, 14 gauge (AWG) for <50ft, and 12 gauge (AWG) for <75ft.
8. Caring for Your Prime Speakers: Use a dry microfiber duster to remove loose surface dust. For fingerprints and smudges, use a water-damp microfiber cloth followed by a dry cloth. SVS offers a 5-year unconditional warranty on all Prime Speakers.
