To install the OSD Black BK-R62SS Super Shallow Mount Trimless speakers, you will need the following tools: pencil, drill, tape measure, wire cutter, Phillips screwdriver, utility knife, safety eye wear, gloves, sandpaper, and speaker wire guide. Here are the steps to install the speakers:
1. Determine the best place to install the speakers. Consider where the speakers will sound the best and separate them 6-10 feet apart. For Ceiling LCR models, point the speakers with the 15° angled woofer towards the main listening area.
2. If you intend to paint the grilles, do so before installation.
3. Use a pencil to trace along the included template on the wall or ceiling where you want to install the speakers.
4. Cut a small hole in the center of the penciled mounting hole with a drywall saw to check for any obstructions behind the desired mounting area.
5. Cut along the traced line using a drywall saw or rotary drill. Use sandpaper to smooth down the cut-out edge for a smoother contour.
6. Tighten the mounting brackets by turning the screws on the front of the speaker baffle clockwise. The quick-turn mounting system and frame will clamp around the drywall to hold the speaker securely in place.
7. Connect the speakers to your amplifier or receiver. Make sure the power is off before connecting. Locate the connection terminals on the back of your amplifier or receiver and connect the speaker wires accordingly.
8. Adjust the speakers if needed. On select models, there may be a front-mounted treble contour switch to tailor high frequencies according to speaker placement or preference.
9. If your speakers have a pivoting tweeter, you can adjust the direction of the sound by pressing on the edge of the tweeter baffle in the desired direction. Be careful not to touch the dome of the tweeter.
