To achieve optimal sound quality with the Q Acoustics 3050i floorstanding speakers, it is important to position them correctly. Here are some guidelines:
1. Placement: The speakers should be positioned at least 200mm (about 8 inches) away from the back wall and 500mm (about 20 inches) away from the side walls. Placing them too close to the wall may result in boomy and imprecise sound.
2. Spacing: The speakers should be placed 2m (about 6.5 feet) to 4m (about 13 feet) apart. They should also be positioned centrally to the seated listener.
3. Toe-in: You can experiment with slightly turning the speakers inward to sharpen the stereo image. However, be aware that this may cause the sound source to narrow.
4. Subwoofer: If you are using a subwoofer with the speakers, it is recommended to position it level with the front speakers and as central to the listening position as possible. This may not be feasible in a multi-channel system.
