To install the OSD Black BK-R62SM Performance Weather-Resistant speakers, you will need the following tools: pencil, drill, tape measure, wire cutter, Phillips screwdriver, utility knife, safety eye wear, gloves, and sandpaper. Here are the steps to follow:
1. Determine the best place to install the speakers. Consider where the speakers sound the best and separate them 6-10 feet apart. For Ceiling LCR models, point the speakers with the 15° angled woofer towards the main listening area.
2. If you intend to paint the grilles, do so before installation.
3. Use the included template to trace the cut-out shape on your wall or ceiling. Before cutting, make a small hole in the center of the penciled mounting hole to check for any obstructions behind the desired mounting area.
4. Cut along the traced line using a drywall saw or rotary drill. Sand down the cut-out edge for a smoother contour using sandpaper.
5. Tighten the mounting brackets by turning the screws on the front of the speaker baffle clockwise. The mounting system will clamp around the drywall to hold the speaker securely in place.
6. Connect the speakers to the amplifier or receiver. Make sure the power is off before connecting. Locate the connection terminals on the back of your receiver or amplifier and connect the audio out to the speakers.
7. Adjust the speakers if needed. On select models, there is a front-mounted treble contour switch to tailor high frequencies according to speaker placement or preference.
8. For models with a pivoting tweeter, you can adjust the tweeter's direction by pressing on the edge of the tweeter baffle. Be careful not to touch the dome to avoid damage.
