To adjust the recording level on the Zoom H1n Portable Recorder, follow these steps:
1. Power on the recorder by sliding the power switch to the ON position.
2. Press the MENU button to enter the menu mode.
3. Use the scroll wheel to navigate to the "REC" menu option and press the scroll wheel to select it.
4. In the "REC" menu, scroll to the "REC LEVEL" option and press the scroll wheel to select it.
5. The current recording level will be displayed on the screen. Rotate the scroll wheel clockwise to increase the level or counterclockwise to decrease it.
6. As you adjust the level, the meter on the screen will show the changes in real-time, allowing you to monitor the input level.
7. Once you have set the desired recording level, press the MENU button to exit the menu mode.
It's important to note that you should aim to set the recording level so that the loudest parts of your audio do not exceed the maximum level indicated by the red peak indicator on the meter. This will help prevent distortion in your recordings.
