To install the Monoprice 121645 Commercial Audio speakers, follow these steps:
1. Determine the location where you want to install the speakers. Make sure it is a vertical surface that can support the weight of the speakers and the mounting brackets. The speakers should be installed in a covered location, protected from direct rainfall.
2. If you have the 6.5-inch speaker model (21645), unscrew the end caps of the mounting brackets and remove the brackets. If you have the 4-inch speaker model (21643), skip to step 4.
3. For the 6.5-inch speaker model, the brackets have two 2-way keyhole xxxx mount locations, allowing for both vertical and horizontal mounting options. Place the bracket against the mounting location, use a carpenter's level to ensure it is straight, and mark the end of each keyhole with a pencil.
4. Use a drill of the appropriate size to drill pilot holes for the screws or holes for the xxxx anchors. If using xxxx anchors, insert them into the holes and tap them in place using a hammer.
5. Insert the screws into the pilot holes or xxxx anchors and tighten them until they are about 1/4" from being fully driven into the mounting surface.
6. Position the keyholes over the xxxx heads with the narrow portions of the keyholes above the xxxx bodies. Slide the bracket down until the xxxx bodies are at the end of the narrow portions of the keyholes.
7. Tighten the screws the rest of the way to secure the brackets against the surface without any wiggle or wobble.
8. Push the red terminal on the rear of the speaker and insert the positive lead of the speaker wire. Ensure that there is no copper showing. Push the black terminal on the rear of the speaker and insert the negative lead of the speaker wire. Ensure that there is no copper showing.
9. Position the speaker in the bracket and thread the two end caps into place. Tighten the end caps partially so that the speaker can still be rotated within the bracket. Note that the speaker is only weatherproof when mounted vertically, with the tweeter at the top, or horizontally with the tweeter on the left.
10. Angle the speaker as desired, and then tighten the end caps to lock the speaker in position on the bracket.
11. Repeat steps 3-10 for the second speaker.
12. Route your speaker wires to your amplifier. If you will be routing wires inside or through walls, use in-wall rated speaker wire.
13. Connect the positive and negative leads of each speaker wire to the left and right channel speaker outputs on your amplifier. Ensure that your amplifier is powered off and unplugged before making the connections.
