To connect external microphones to the TASCAM DR-60DMK2, follow these steps:
1. Make sure the recorder is turned off before connecting any microphones.
2. Locate the XLR/TRS combo jacks on the left side of the recorder.
3. For XLR microphones, use XLR cables to connect the microphones to the XLR inputs. Make sure to match the correct pin configuration (1: ground, 2: hot, 3: cold).
4. For TRS microphones or line-level sources, use TRS cables to connect the microphones or sources to the TRS inputs.
5. If you are using condenser microphones that require phantom power, make sure to enable phantom power on the recorder. Press the MENU button, navigate to the "Phantom" option, and set it to "ON."
6. Adjust the input level for each channel by using the INPUT LEVEL knobs located below the XLR/TRS combo jacks. Start with the knobs at the 12 o'clock position and adjust as needed.
7. Once all the connections are made, turn on the recorder and set the input source for each channel. Press the INPUT SELECT button for the desired channel, and use the INPUT SELECT dial to choose the appropriate input source (XLR or TRS).
8. Monitor the audio levels using the level meters on the front panel or the headphone output.
