To connect the BOSS BPS80 Amplified Subwoofer to your car's audio system, follow these steps:
1. Start by disconnecting the vehicle battery to ensure safety during the installation process.
2. Determine whether you will be using the high-level (speaker level) inputs or the low-level (RCA) inputs based on your head unit's capabilities.
3. If using the high-level inputs, connect the supplied high-level input harness/wire to the speaker outputs of your head unit. Make sure to observe proper polarity to avoid audio phase problems.
4. If using the low-level inputs, connect the RCA cables from your head unit's RCA outputs to the low-level RCA inputs on the subwoofer.
5. Connect the ground terminal of the subwoofer to a suitable grounding point on the vehicle's chassis. Use 8 gauge (or heavier) wire for this connection.
6. Connect the remote terminal of the subwoofer to the remote output of your head unit using 16 gauge (or heavier) wire.
7. Install an empty fuse holder within 18" (45 cm) of the car battery and run 8 gauge (or heavier) cable from this fuse holder to the amplifier location. Connect the fuse holder to the "BATT+" connection on the subwoofer's rear panel.
8. Double-check all connections to ensure they are secure and properly connected.
9. Reconnect the vehicle battery.
10. Power up the head unit and the subwoofer. Set the volume control on the head unit to about 3/4 volume and adjust the subwoofer's controls to just below the level of distortion.
11. Further fine-tuning of the various controls may be necessary to obtain the best results.
