To update the software on your Garmin GPSMAP 742 Plus, follow these steps:
1. Connect your chartplotter to a Wi-Fi network: Ensure that your chartplotter is connected to a Wi-Fi network with internet access. You can do this by going to the Home screen, selecting the Network icon, and then choosing a Wi-Fi network from the available options.
2. Check for software updates: From the Home screen, select the System Settings icon, followed by "Software Update." The chartplotter will automatically check for available updates.
3. Download and install updates: If there are any software updates available, the chartplotter will display them. Select "Download" to start the download process. Once the download is complete, select "Install" to install the updates. Note that the installation process may take several minutes, and your chartplotter will restart during this process.
4. Verify the software version: After the installation is complete, you can verify the software version by going to the Home screen, selecting the System Settings icon, and then choosing "About." The software version will be displayed on this screen.
It is important to keep your chartplotter's software up to date to ensure optimal performance and access to the latest features and improvements. You can also enable automatic software updates in the System Settings to receive future updates automatically when connected to Wi-Fi.
