To update the software on your Garmin GPSMAP 8612xsv MFD/Sonar, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that you have a compatible SD card inserted into the card slot of the device.
2. Visit the Garmin website (www.garmin.com) and navigate to the "Support" section.
3. Search for your specific model, GPSMAP 8612xsv, and locate the software updates available for download.
4. Download the latest software update file to your computer.
5. Connect the SD card to your computer using an SD card reader.
6. Copy the downloaded software update file to the root directory of the SD card.
7. Safely eject the SD card from your computer and insert it into the card slot of the GPSMAP 8612xsv.
8. Power on the device and wait for it to recognize the software update on the SD card.
9. Follow the on-screen prompts to initiate the software update process.
10. Once the update is complete, the device will restart automatically.
